Christian History Made Easy
Key events and people every Christian should know
Quite frankly, Church history has always seemed detached, dry, andforgettable - even though I don't want it to be! Retaining informationabout key events and people that have impacted the Church has alwaysbeen laborious for me, to say the least. Mr. Jones' work is a refreshingchange in studying Church history.
His subtle humor (in no waydisrespectful, just pun-filled and funny) and his polished way oftransitioning from one era or event to another makes Church history easyto study - as the title promises. Maps, side-bar quotations, web siterecommendations, and review learning activities at the close of eachchapter help raise the interest level and "recall quotient.
Each of thetwelve eras studied (A.D. 64 to 1999) begins with key names, events andterms to remember. Then the text within the chapter expounds on thosekey items. There is also a leader's guide in the last twenty pages ofthe book that supplies answers to the learning activities, extradiscussion questions, suggestions for class activities and lesson plans(if used in a classroom setting), and resource recommendations. It is a13-week course for high schoolers and adults that really makesunderstanding Church history a joy, not a drudgery of unrelated namesand dates.
